Boy or girl? Pink or blue? A truck or a doll? It is too early to tell just yet, but my next visit is on the 29th and there is a good chance we’ll know then. I probably want to know. Dennis says he can wait if I want to wait for a surprise. I was thinking about leaving it for the big day, but then if I know myself well I will run into the hospital a week prior my due date and beg them to tell me. The fact that I have to wait 4 weeks till my next appointment is already killing me.

So here is what we have tried so far to determine our baby’s sex:
One of the beliefs is that, if your husband puts on weight during your pregnancy, then you will be having a girl. If he doesn’t put on a pound, then you’re carrying a boy. Well Dennis hasn’t and if anything he has lost some weight… Boy 1: Girl 0

Then there is a breast test: if the right one is larger, you’re having a boy. It is definitely my left one…. Boy 1: Girl 1

The good old ring test done by suspending a ring on a string above your belly: if it swings back and forth, you’re having a boy. If it is more of a circular motion, then it’s a girl. When I did it the ring was definitely going in a circular motion, but then Mr.rational said it is physically impossible for a ring to move if you don’t move your hand. So he did it… and sure enough.. the ring did not move. So that didn’t work out very well.

My friend did the hand test on me. This can be done only on a person who does not know about the test, which made me a perfect candidate. You have to ask a mother-to-be to show you her hands and if she shows you her hands palms up – it’s a girl. I’ve showed mine palms down… Boy 2: Girl 1

Then there are people who claim they simply know. Just like that. No explanation. They just know it. Dennis’ sister says we are having a girl…. Boy 2: Girl 2

Dennis’ aunt however made a deal with higher powers and put in her request for a boy… Boy 3: Girl 2.

It really does not make a difference to us if it is a boy or a girl. Little girls break your heart, little boys break your house.
