I really think that nannies and babysitters should be offered as a government benefit to all new families. I finally understand what Hillary Clinton meant when she said “it takes a village to raise a child”. It really does. Too bad half of our “village” lives on the other side of the Atlantic. And the other half is just a leeeettle too Ozzy Osbourne to be entrusted with caring for an infant.
I had no trouble jumping up in the middle of the night for about a week or so. But after 6 weeks of 12am-3am-5am-7am feeding calls even Target cannot keep up with my RedBull demand.
Clearly, whoever said “I sleep like a baby” never had one. After six weeks of practically no sleep I almost started feeling sympathetic towards all those terrorists being tortured at Guantanamo Bay. Apparently cramped confinement and sleep deprivation are some of the most successful methods used to get the information from the enemy. Well now I know what Guantanamo Bay is like – a big nursery full of babies.
“Preparing for Parenthood” classes was a waste of my money; what I really needed was SERE training – “survival courses designed to help military personnel avoid capture and exploitation by the enemy and protective measures against it.” But then I look at this face

They are soooo worth the lack of sleep! Also, you have your kiddo in some knitted booties. Those are just fabulous – where did you get them?
It’s a gift from Leila’s grandmother. She is very crafty – I don’t even know how cut a straight line…
Cute little dress and the booties too! She’s so adorable. Sorry she has been giving you sleep struggles.
But as Lolly said they’re worth it. And once again I love your humorous take on such normal babyhood topics.
Thanks Dawn – it’s either laugh or cry
Hi there! I came over from the BBC board. Just wanted to say “hi”! Your blog is freakin hysterical. Thanks for sharing!!!
It’s amazing how absolutely worth it it all is!
Thank’s for stopping by our blog! I’m a bit envious of your SAHM status (it’s my first week back to work so I’m having a rough time) but Hayley gets cared for by one of her parents and I’m really thankful for that.
As for my “diaper bag” I seriously have a purse addiction and having Hayley was the perfect excuse to finally get a new bag!!
We should get a play date together! We don’t actually know any other parents so it would be great to meet some new people!
Imagine 2 at 1 time! No sleep. No sleep. Yes, it’s worth it, but just have to say that I really MISS sleep.
Hugs and Mocha,
Stesha
The first few months are rough, but she is really cute!
Thanks for sharing
Wow I love your candidness. Your blog posts are hilarious and very candid. These are the kind of posts that are addicting to read. If only I had the guts to be so truthfully honest. You rock!
