You know all those people who tell you oh the second trimester is like a honeymoon! You will have so much energy you will re-tile your bathroom during baby’s naps just for the fun of it ? Well… as Joe Wilson so eloquently put it: YOU LIE! I am about as energetic as a DMV clerk, so when Leila found a new activity:

I just asked Dennis if he could “take care of it”……. but what he heard was “sweetie, could you put some of that good-looking stylish duct tape on my kitchen cabinets?”…

I was going to say something, but decided to take a nap instead… which was interpreted as a green light to use a duct tape to baby-proof the rest of the house.

…like a fire place…

…or that little rip on our couch that Leila has been poking at…

… finally I had to say something… you know… for the sake of the baby:

Y’all are so wrong! I mean a good wrong. “If loving you is wrong, I don’t want to be right” wrong!

I appreciate his enthusiasm for the cheap solution but duck tape leaves fun gumminess behind…that will be fun! You remind me that I need to start baby proofing for real. My husband I have been avoiding it because it’s two against one but with an attempt at the stairs a few days ago it’s time.

We haven’t babyproofed at all yet. Thankfully, it turns out, because if we had I wouldn’t have even thought of using duct tape. Brilliant! If not a bit messy…

As for the second trimester–it was all downhill for me starting then. My first trimester was wonderfully easy, but by the next one I was pretty much tired and angry all the time. This lasted until well after Jack’s birth. Lovely.

Dying laughing over here. You guys are too much!!! At any rate, this is a better solution than babyproofing anyway. We got around (eventually) do putting those drawer locks on a couple bathroom drawers–well, don’t you know they still open just enough for Annabelle to get her little fingers stuck in them and start screaming? All. the. time. ??? I like your plan better. :) And that last picture is so hilarious I almost cried.

Oh man! We have been putting off baby proofing since we are (probably) moving in a couple of months, and then we’ll have to do it all over again. But I do have to say, duct tape WOULD be a quick solution to a couple of the minor issues we are currently dealing with AND it would be easy to rip off when the time came to move and we baby proof for real…. hhhm….

I love the look on Leila’s face in the second picture. I like the low-cost babyproofing!

    Super caring husband!

Nothing says “I love you, please stay safe” like duct tape. That’s classic man! I love it.

Is there anything duct tape isn’t good for?

  10. bwahhhhhahhhhhhaaaaa. great, now i need to change my bragas.

But look how nicely your hubby did the drawers – each piece of tape the same size and in the same place on each drawer. That’s the work of a duct tape master. There’s some serious planning and execution behind that ;-)
