And it reminded me of a trick I read on MetaFilter. The person said everyone is just trying to figure out what everyone else really wants anyway, so you can start any decision making process by saying something like this: &quot;Well, my 100 percent perfect would be if you would pick up the groceries while I finish my dissertation. But I&#039;m flexible.&quot; 

I&#039;ve tried it, and nine times out of ten people just want to help you. It&#039;s kind of blowing my mind, and I thought it might be helpful. Good things for you this month, and good job making that baby.</description>
