Fat and Sober

You know what’s good about not being able to get completely crocked on St. Patrick’s Day?

This year tomorrow morning I will not find any embarrassing videos on the Internet of me singing at some karaoke contest…  and nobody will be telling me that I have agreed for it to be published on their official radio website for people to vote… and no you will not get to see it (if I can help it), because I prefer you thinking of me as a holly, unadulterated and pure suburban mother that you can all aspire to be like.

We spend majority of the  2008 living in Ireland and well… much fun was had. This is me 19 weeks pregnant with Leila:

I remember that day… like yesterday. I remember very vividly thinking that I was HUGE. I know… I know…  those 4 years of drinking in college do affect your brain after all. You start seeing things.  The reality is that gaining weight for me is a piece a of cake (many of them), especially during pregnancy. I’ve gained 50lbs with Leila and that’s only ooooh about 20lbs over the recommended guidelines. And as of today I have already gained 10lbs with this baby and had to listen to the “gentle reminder” lecture from my OBGYN. Really? Can’t we just be happy that I am not drinking and singing anymore?

Gentle reminder? Seriously? You look great!! (Then and now). Although I would enjoy a peek at a karaoke video if you have one. I promise not to tell, much, okay maybe just on my blog but no one reads these things anyway so we’re good.

    Great shirt.

I was CONVINCED that I was a huge whale when I was pregnant, and I, um, sort of only gained 15lbs. The baby was 6 of those. I look at pictures of me with my non-existent belly and laugh at how stoopid I was, going around waddling and convinced I looked like the good year blimp. Heh.

Gosh, you look great! I looked like a beached whale with both of my pregnancies. I’m not even gonna say how much weight I gained with both.

Daiva, I also gained as much as you did with Leila :) Hopefully, I will be able to get rid of those “little” extra pounds in less than a year so I don’t have to change my wardrobe completely:) Is it possible?:)

    • Totally, just don’t eat much and you will fine. Just kidding! Half of it will be gone in a couple of weeks, but it took me about 10 months. And oh dear, you are due TOMORROW!

:) Well, the first signs of comming delivery are here (mucous plug is out and alike), so it can happen today or in the next few days..

Yes, we can all just be happy you are not drinking and singing… I wish they wouldn’t bother you with those petty little details while you are pregnant. You clearly don’t have a non-pregnant weight issue, and you apparently lost what you gained with Leila. I’d sleep easy, or eat easy, whatever…

I gained about 30-35 with both, but I am so small it looked like I gained 100. There are still about 5-7 pounds I haven’t been able to lose–which is irritating (hello mid-30′s metabolism).

It seems that the memory of every second of Alyssa’s moments with me are burned in my mind forever. :o )

And I’m very glad of it too!

Beautiful pic and I’m sure in 16 years, it will bring back the same memories.

I think we all feel rather fat when we are pregnant, but aren’t we just beautiful!!!?
